Thailand criminalises defamation under Criminal Code §§326–328. Section 326 (the general defamation offence) carries up to one year's imprisonment plus a fine. Section 328 (defamation by publication — including online) carries up to two years plus fine. Section 329 provides limited defences (fair criticism of public conduct, self-defence of reputation), but truth is only a partial defence — under §330 the accused may prove truth only when the imputation concerns a "public interest" matter and the private life is not involved. Because online defamation can be charged simultaneously under Computer-Related Crime Act §14, prosecutors regularly stack §14 + §328 for a single social-media post.
