Section 14, Computer-Related Crime Act

The §14 speech provisions of the Thai cybercrime statute. Five-year statutory maximum per offence for entering "false" or "distorting" data; often stacked with Criminal Code §326–328 for a single act of speech.

Section 14 of the Computer-Related Crime Act B.E. 2550 (as amended in 2017) is the operative speech-criminalisation clause of the Thai cybercrime statute. Subsection (1) covers "false computer data" that causes damage to another person or the public; subsection (2) covers "false or distorted" data that damages national security, the public, or the economy. Both carry a maximum five years' imprisonment. In practice, prosecutors regularly charge §14 alongside Criminal Code §326–328 (criminal defamation), producing a stacked-charges pattern for a single social-media post — the mechanic the reform proposals on this site target for repeal.
